PWB Member Minutes

February 28, 2008

The PWB meet Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the home of Bunny Boyd. Those in attendance were Bunny Boyd, Becky Petree, Jennifer Trivette, Jamie Morrision, Brenda Speece and Debbie Warren.

Old Business:

Bunny Boyd will give Joe Crosswhite the 501-C3 application to file for non profit

Community Projects for year will be: Childrens Home, Shepherds Watch and March of Dimes –Walk

New Business:

Jennifer Trivette talked about Pregnancy Resource Center and a baby bottle program they have to help pregnant youth & women, Becky Petree made a motion to get the bottles with a second from Bunny Boyd. These are to be given to members to fill with change to help support the center.

Bunny Boyd said there will be a meeting at her house on March 4th at 5:30 pm for reverse raffle planning.

Jamie Morrision talked to Ginger Dowdle about April meeting at Shepherds Watch, the meeting will be April 17th or 24th at 5:30 pm. Meal will be potluck.

Becky Petree talked about May meeting with Tammy Smoot director for PWB at State level giving presentation on membership recruitment each member is asked to invite two people to attend the meeting will be held May 15h at Magnolia Glen at 12:00 pm this will be a lunch meeting.. Our goal this year is to double our membership.

Brenda Speece invited anyone who would like to attend a CPR – First Aid course on Saturday March 1st at the Childrens Home.

Becky Petree talked about a sponsorship program for Statesville High at a cost of $300.00 Brenda Speece made a motion and Jennifer Trivettte gave a second to sponsor ½ at $150.00 with HBA possibly doing ½ as co-sponsor.

Bunny Boyd showed everyone the award for Outstand Service we won at International IBS.

Bunny Boyd has given the Childrens Home a commitment for birthday cakes for this year for the fourteen residents at the home, anyone who would like to help with this cause can contact Bunny.

The March meeting will be held at Bunny Boyds, March 20th 2008 at 9:30 am


November 8, 2007

The PWB meet Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the home of Bunny Boyd. Those in attendance were Bunny Boyd, Kelly Pardue, Dava Brown, Jamie Morrison, Becky Petree, Debbie Warren and Lisa Colvard.

Old Business:

The PWB was awarded the Stars Award for PWB State winner back in September and we have been submitted for National PWB for our work for the money raised in our Womanless Beauty Pageant for the Children’s Home of Iredell County.

New Business:

Officers were nominated for the PWB for 2008 with Kelly Pardue making a motion and Becky Petree with a second they are as follows:

Lisa Colvard-Ways & Means

We will be making a basket for the State PWB competition on December 12 & 13 to try to win a $500 Scholarship. The title of the basket is “All Things Carolina”. Our basket will be a tailgating theme. Dava plans to prepare a tailgate out of wood. We will have a chair with a blown up doll wearing PWB shirt, koozie and etc. having a tailgate party. The following people have volunteered to bring these items:

Dava- make tailgate and check on getting blown up doll
Becky-Panthers flags and check with Bojangles or Hooters for gift certificates
Debbie-cooler & hibachi grill
Jamie-blanket
Lisa- 6 pack hot beer (WE NEED OTHER VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS)
Bunny-PWB shirts and koozie

These items need to be dropped off at Bunny’s house by December 4, 2007.

Dava Brown will be installed as President of the State PWB at the State PWB meeting on December 12th and 13th. If anyone would like to go please contact Bunny.

The Iredell County Homebuilders meeting will be this coming Tuesday at the Children’s Home of Iredell County. The PWB will furnish the dessert. We have the following women that have volunteered: Debbie Warren, Jamie Morrison, Lisa Colvard and Kelly Pardue. If one or two more of you wish to make a dessert please let me know.
The PWB will place a box during November and December ICHBA meetings for collection of money for the Children’s Home. We will purchase a gift card with the money for the Children’s Home for Christmas. Bunny has volunteered to do the box.

The PWB Christmas party will be at Richard & Bunny’s on December 7th between 6-6:30 and we will have dinner around 7:00. Please bring a $15 gift for Chinese Xmas between the girls; spouses are included for this party. The menu will be:

Richard-steak and potatoes
Bunny-yeast rolls
Kelly-dessert
Dava-salad
Debbie, Becky, Lisa-appetizers
Jamie-rum punch

If anyone else would like to bring a dessert, wine or an appetizer please let Jamie know.

Please be thinking of a gift to present the outgoing President Becky Petree at the Christmas party for the Iredell County Homebuilders meeting.

The meeting for January’s PWB has been scheduled for January 16, 2008 at 9:30 Bunny’s house.

August 24, 2007

The PWB meet Friday August 24, 2007 at the home of Bunny Boyd. Those in attendance were Bunny Boyd, Becky Petree, Debbie Warren, Brenda Speece, Lisa Colvard, Jamie Morrison, Jeanene Grant, Angie Holt, Dava Brown, Karen Gentry and Julie Jones.

Old Business:

The Womanless Beauty Pageant was discussed and Lisa Colvard said the DVD would be finished by this Wednesday the 29th and the pictures should be ready by the next PWB meeting on the 7th of Sept. We will decide on a date and time to give the collages to the contestants when we have the pictures in hand.

Angie Holt will be getting the picture of PWB presenting the check from the proceeds of the Pageant to the Children’s Home from Bunny to submit to the Statesville Record & Landmark.

New Business:

The dates chosen for the Victory Junction Camp were Oct.26th.-28. Ventilator weekend. Bunny will fax in the applications and see if we are able to volunteer that weekend if not we will try for Nov.9th-11th. If anyone else is interested please contact Bunny and let her know so you can fill out an application.

September 13th is the Stars Gala Awards at the 21st.Century Building Expo if anyone is interested in attending please let Bunny know the cost is $75 and Bunny is reserving a table for 10.

The date for the PWB to do work with the Children’s Home has been set as follows:

August –Dava & Becky to purchase and deliver school supplies for the children

September- Bunny has set up tennis lessons to be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays

October 30th- Halloween Party for the kids at Bunny & Richards (time and what to bring at next meeting)

November 13-Iredell Homebuilders meeting at the Children’s Home and PWB will supply dinner (Menu to be discussed at a later date)

December 6-Meet at 4:00 at Children’s Home to stuff stockings for children to give out to Nursing Homes/Assisted Living Care? Brenda to discuss with kids who they would like to do this for. The PWB in return will give gift certificates to the kids to give to what charity or organization of their choice.

The next meeting has been scheduled for Friday, September 7 at 10:30 at Bunny’s.

May 9, 2007

The PWB meet Tuesday at the Elks Lodge to discuss the upcoming Pageant.

The following needs to be done by Tuesday, May 15th which is our scheduled next meeting:

(1) All tickets and money need to be turned in.
(2) Please have your contestants Bio written,
(3) Touch base with your man and make sure he has his wardrobe, talent and music all lined up.

We have determined prizes for the contestants to be as followed:

Winner- Bouquet of flowers, hard had tiara, Hooters meal package
Peoples Choice Award- Small bouquet of flowers, tiara, $50 Fast Phil’s Gift Certificate
Ms.Congeniality- Gift basket, Outback Gift Certificate

Gifts in special thanks for volunteering to Sandra Redmond and Mary and the 3 judges to be determined.

We will be meeting at the Civic Center at 2:00 to start decorating on Friday the 18th. If anyone is unable to come please let Becky know. Contestants need to be there by 4:00, if they need to come earlier to see the stage they may. The PWB will be wearing pink PWB t-shirts, black pants or skirt the night of the pageant.

Everyone has been assigned a duty for the night of the pageant, if you have not received this please contact Becky to email it to you.

Next meeting Tuesday, May 15th at 9:00 at Bunny’s.

March 2

The Iredell County Professional Women in Building held a meeting Friday, March 2, 2007 at the home of Bunny Boyd.  This meeting was held to discuss the upcoming Womanless Beauty Pageant on May 18 at 6:30.  In attendance were Bunny Boyd, Debbie Warren, Brenda Speece, Jeanene Grant and Jamie Morrison. 

Sponsor and contestant forms were given to those in attendance.   Please get your contestants and sponsors signatures and sponsors fee of $100 ASAP.  This is needed by the end of next week if possible.  The tickets for the event were also distributed.  Please contact Bunny if you need tickets.  (FYI – Tickets can also be purchased at the Civic Center) 

At this time 1 corporate table has been sold for $300.00.  There will be a total of 16 corporate tables.  First come first serve.  There are a total of 500 tickets to sell. 

Bunny will order PWB Balloons for the tables and PWB pink T-shirts for the members of PWB to wear the night of the pageant.  The members also voted on contestants wearing for the opening act; pink PEB t-shirts, pink socks with sneakers or boots, shorts, tool belts and pink hard hats.  Jamie Morrison is to check about getting the tool belts donated.  Colorful plastic tools will fill the belts. 

A cash bar will be set up serving beer and wine.  Jamie Morrison to check about getting kegs of beer and Bunny also to check with Carolina Blonde about getting beer donated.  If anyone knows of a bartender that might be interested in working the bar, please ask, Jamie is to ask Todd Fowler of Mayo’s. 

Angie Holt is to check with Fat Boy’s to see the difference in price with/ without dessert, if it will cost $1.00 or more the PWB will provide desserts. 

Debbie Warren is to check with Iredell Citizens paper to see about doing advertising for the pageant and also with Pam Stone with 107.9 about announcing ticket sales at Statesville Civic Center.

February 15, 2007

The ICHBA Professional Women in Building met on February 15, 2007 at the home of Bunny Boyd. Those attending were Angie Holt, Becky Petree, Bunny Boyd, Dava Brown, Debbie Warren, Ginger Dowdle, Jamie Morrison and Lisa Colvard.  We welcomed our newest member Amanda Davenport.

PWB had a special guest Danny Davis to help us with our upcoming PWB Womanless Beauty Pageant and Brenda Speece with the Iredell County Children’s Home.

The PWB Womanless Beauty Pageant “Who Let The Dogs Out” will be the name of the pageant. The event will take place on May 18th at the Statesville Civic Center starting with dinner at 6:30 and the pageant at 7:15. Sponsor tables will be available at the price of $300 and individual tickets for $25.

The pageant will start with the contestants dressed in their sponsors outfit and coming out in “Who Let The Dogs Out”. Second will be the Sportswear Competition with “Hot Legs” playing and last Evening Wear with their choice of song and a question asked to contestants. Contestants have the option of doing talent.

Each member that attended this morning is to follow up with their contestant and sponsor. Bunny will have agreement drawn up for sponsor and contestant to sign.

Lisa has photographer lined up and is checking with Scott Feimster about music.

Music will also be provided by Billy & Russell’s band. Jamie is to check with Bud Welch at Statesville Record & Landmark about being a contestant and advertising for pageant.

Bunny Boyd will be ordering the tickets and plan to distribute at our next meeting on Friday, February 23 at 9:00 at her house. Please try to attend so you can pick up tickets to sale and further discuss the pageant.
